Is only bad if you cruise during a hurricane... otherwise is always sunny.

April is no hurricane season, so you will have a great time!

mid April is A-OK.

As you get into summer, there's more chance of rainy days and of course, hurricanes --- but that's mostly summer and fall that you worry about that.

April is a great time to go. Hurricane season is in the Fall.

friends went in OCtober one year and on the way back ran into Hurricane speed winds along the Atlantic Coast on the way back to Miami. Waves slammed into the windows and broke some on the restaurant level and caused quite a mess!

You should be alright for 7 days but keep and eye on the forecast. There are far too many hurricanes that have hit the BAJA and west coast Mexico to list here so here is a link.
West coast hurricane is from May 15th through November.

You will have to trust the cruise line and the Captain not to cruise into a hurricane. Storms can whip up quickly but a hurricane gives you a lot more warning.

The altitude is the main problem in Mexico City or also another cities with high altitude such as La Paz, Bolivia.
The air has less oxygen than the usual, so it is harder to the athletes to obtain the same quantities of oxygen as usual. Body needs time to acclimatize and get used to this condition. Sometimes, the athletes train in lands with this conditions for getting more stamina & resistance and in the opposite, they train in the beaches for getting more speed.
